Description

Physiology:

Heatmors body heat is at such a high temperature that it's breath is hot enough to burn flesh. It's body creates an odd acidic mucus that can be combined with the gases in it's stomach to allow it to exhale fire in quick bursts. While their lumbering bodies make them slow and cumbersome, their tongues are flexible and are dripping with the acid, capable of melting through even steel. Their necks are covered in scales that protect them from faster predators that try to bite at their necks.

Behavior:

Surprisingly, Heatmor were once not native to the Unova region. Originally they lived in the Sinnoh region around the Stark Mountain area. However, they were imported to Unova 33 years ago after an incident in Victory Road.

A colony of Durant, one of the species of Pokemon that lived in that area, had been causing quakes and cave-ins in Victory road due to their tunneling, and the League began to worry about the stability of the mountain that the Pokemon League was built on. The last thing they needed was for the entire mountain to collapse and the League to crumble, so they began to look for a solution to this overpopulation of Durant.

Alder, the current Pokemon League champion at the time, had been travelling around the various regions, and eventually stumbled upon Stark Mountain, where he found a peculiar species of Pokemon; Heatmor.

After seeing this creatures capabilities, Alder thought of it as the best counter to Durants, and he called the League to start an importing program to bring the Heatmor species to Unova. They managed to round up several dozen Heatmor and let them loose into Victory Road.

Needless to say, the Durant population was quickly rebalanced, as the Heatmors scalding hot tongues were more than enough to burn through the metal coating of these steel ant Pokemon, thus becoming their predators as a result. After a few years the Heatmor population grew, and the Durant population stabilized to keep up with these new enemies that had made it's way into the food chain.

Despite being predators to the aggressive Durant species, Heatmor are actually relatively docile. They tend to steer clear of humans and other Pokemon and they very rarely venture outside of Victory Road, due to their main food source being there as well. A few have been spotted in Twist Mountain, but this might just be due to them being relatively clueless of their surroundings in general, having most likely wandered off without knowing that they were straying out of their territory.

Capture Rate: 3.27/10.
Heatmor are relatively easy to capture since they barely pose a threat to humans. They are barely aggressive at all, another trait that makes them easier to catch. Trainer are often capable of sneaking up on them given how unaware they are, and they only become tough to handle if they feel threatened.

Heatmor's literally an anteater, so drawing him wasn't too bad.

That fur texture though...... ASGHSUUUUURRGGHASDF.... It was so much fun, but SO HARD to do at the same time. Happy with how this lil' guy turned out though, and I wouldn't mind trying more pokemon with fur to practice.

Pokemon is property of gamefreak and Nintendo. They own all of the rights to any pokemon I draw.
